One of the fundamental reasons for reviving Uganda Airlines were to enhance the country’s competitiveness by reducing the cost of air travel and easing connectivity to and from Uganda.

It is envisaged that the airline will foster and harness opportunities in the economy like agriculture, tourism, oil and gas. Expansion of its fleet has far reaching impacts for the economy; especially as the global industry struggles to reel out of the effects of the corona pandemic.
As a country whose economy is largely based on agriculture, we view air transport as crucial in linking our perishable agro-products with the markets outside our borders.

Equipping Uganda Airlines with extended range aircraft like the A330 Neo enables the carrier to develop global routes and widen our reach as a country.
We live in a highly-competitive world and communication in all forms, will define our present and our future. I congratulate Uganda Airlines and pledge my Ministry’s support and that of the government in our effort to shape that future.

Gen. Katumba Wamala
Minister of Works and Transport
